“CONNECTING STRUGGLES – THE ROADS TO EUROPEAN DEMOCRACY – on Saturday afternoon join the Transeuropa Caravans Street Storytelling Action in Piazza Magione (PA).
⚡️ The action is organised and performed by the participants of the five »Transeuropa Caravans 2019« who were searching for “the roads to European Democracy” in the last six months across 15 countries of Europe. We will display and reflect on the transformation of their ambivalent experiences of European citizenship, mobility, migration, and the connections between the diversity of struggles and different people building alternatives all over Europe. Join us to tell and listen to stories of societal transformation!
🚐 In light of the 2019 European Parliament elections, a group of young activists was travelling throughout 15 European countries on board of 5 caravan cars reaching out to places of struggle and resistance, in defense of fundamental rights beyond borders. We traveled to meet directly European citizens, connect their stories, and mobilize together to promote our electoral rights and participation throughout Europe.
🗣The most important challenges of our times escape the borders of nation states. Racism, xenophobia and hate crimes do not understand national barriers and their impact surpasses state borders. In a period in which it is becoming more and more complicated to escape national borders, European citizens need to mobilise transnationally, starting from their local realities, from the violation of human rights they witness in their neighbourhoods and communities. We need a transnational coordination able to sum up the plurality of citizen forces, capable of campaigning and organising over all those issues that require European-level action.
This project was funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020).
